House Debates Mercury Cleanup
A bill that would require Public Service Company of New Hampshire to make deep cuts in mercury pollution from their two coal-fired power plants is pending in the House after being approved by the Senate last March.

New Report Finds Toxic Chemicals In Baby Products
Most parents take the necessary measures to child-proof their homes for the arrival of a new baby. But several products that are being marketed for infants contain toxic chemicals that can cause impaired learning and memory, reproductive defects, cancer and impaired immune systems, charged an Oct. 12 PIRG report.

MERCURY CONTAMINATION—Mercury pollution from power plants, released through smokestacks, finds its way into rivers and lakes and accumulates in fish. Small children and women of childbearing age are at particular risk due to mercury’s potential effects on the developing nervous system.
