Senate Approves Power Plant Cleanup
An NHPIRG-backed bill to make deep cuts in mercury pollution from two New Hampshire power plants has won broad approval from the state Senate.

Congress Passes Backward Energy Plan
Despite our best efforts, on July 29 Congress passed an energy bill that offers little to consumers and the environment, while handing over billions of dollars to the oil and nuclear industries.

DIRTY POWER—Power plants, like the one pictured above, are partly responsible for the recent EPA conclusion that one in six women of child-bearing age have dangerously high mercury levels. An 85-percent reduction of mercury levels from two New Hampshire power plants has just been approved by the Senate.
